1. What is an automatic labeling machine

 

An automatic labeling machine is a device that can attach rolls of paper or metal foil labels to prescribed packaging containers or products. The back of the brand is self-contained with adhesive and is regularly arranged on the smooth backing paper. The peeling mechanism on the labeling machine can automatically peel it off. Labeling can complete various operations such as plane pasting, single-sided or multi-sided pasting of packaging, cylindrical pasting, partial or full-covering cylindrical pasting, and concave and corner pasting.

 

2. Introduction of automatic labeling machine

 

Many automatic labeling machines have different functions, but the basic principles are similar. The automatic labeling machine is a device that sticks paper or metal foil labels on the specified packaging containers with adhesives.


It can complete various operations such as flat sticking, single- or multi-sided packaging, cylindrical sticking, partial or full-covering cylindrical sticking, concave and corner sticking, and other operations.

 

3. Functional characteristics of automatic labeling machine

 

(1). Wide range of application: it can realize not only the side (plane) single labeling/corner touching label of square bottle/flat bottle (whole bottle state), but also recognize the single/double labeling function of circumferential positioning of round bottle.

4. The labeling process of automatic labeling machine

 

When the sensor signals that the labeling object is ready to be labeled, the drive wheel on the labeling machine rotates. The roll label is tightened on the device. The front end is forced off and ready to be labeled when the backing paper is run against the peel-off plate, changing direction. This is due to the stiffness of the label material itself. At this time, the labeling object is just at the lower part of the label, and under the action of the labeling wheel, the synchronous labeling is realized. After labeling, the sensor under the roll label sends a signal to stop running, the drive wheel is stationary, and a labeling cycle ends.

 

No matter what type of labeling machine it is, the labeling process is generally similar. The differences are: the installation position of the labeling device is different, the conveying method and positioning method of the labeling object is other, and the form of the labeling roller is different.

 

Generally, automatic labeling machines have requirements for labels:

 

(1) Surface material

The stiffness of the label is the key to the label, so the surface material is required to have a specific strength and hardness. Label stiffness and material thickness and label area, so soft film material increase viscosity. Generally control at 100μm or more. Thin paper materials, such as 60~70g/m2 labeling paper, are usually not suitable for large labels but are ideal for processing into small labels, such as price labels used on price tag guns. The poor firmness of the label will cause the label not to be labeled during labeling, or the label will be rewound with the backing paper, making the automatic labeling invalid.

 

(2) Release force

Also known as peel force, the force with which the label is released from the liner. The release force is related to the type and thickness of the adhesive, the silicone coating on the surface of the backing paper, and the ambient temperature during labeling. If the release force is too small, the label will easily fall off during the conveying process (separate from the backing paper). We should control the technical indexes comprehensively to keep the clamping force within a reasonable range.

 

(3) Bottom paper

It is also an important indicator to control automatic labeling. The base paper surface is evenly coated with silicon, and the release force is consistent. The thickness of the backing paper should be uniform while having good tensile strength to ensure that it will not break when labeling. It should also have a sound light transmission to ensure that the sensor correctly identifies the label's location.

 

(4) Processing quality

It is required that both sides of the backing paper after slitting are flat and free of cracks to avoid the backing paper from breaking when the tension changes. When die-cutting, it is necessary to avoid cutting through the backing paper or destroying the silicon-coated layer. Suppose the backing paper and the silicon-coated layer are damaged. In that case, the backing paper is easily broken, or the adhesive in the label penetrates the backing paper, causing no labeling and tearing of the backing paper. In addition, the static electricity in the roll paper label should be eliminated before labeling because static electricity will cause the label not to be labeled or the label to be inaccurate.

 

5. Machine composition of automatic labeling machine

 

(1) Unwinding wheel. It is a passive wheel for placing roll labels. Usually equipped with a friction braking device with adjustable friction force, the purpose is to control the speed and tension of the reel and keep the paper feeding smoothly.

 

(2) Buffer wheel. The worker is connected to the spring. Can swing back and forth. The purpose is to absorb the tension of the roll material when the device is started, keep the cloth in contact with the rollers, and prevent the fabric from breaking.

 

(3) Guide rollers. It is composed of upper and lower parts and guides and positions the reel material.

 

(4) Drive rollers. It consists of a set of active friction wheels. Usually, one is a rubber roller and a metal roller, with the backing paper passing between them. The function is to drive the reel material to achieve routine labeling.

 

(5) Winding wheel. It is a driving wheel with a friction transmission device, and its function is to rewind the bottom paper after labeling. The rotation of the paper delivery roller and the paper handling of the driving wheel do not interfere with each other, and the friction device adjusts the synchronous transmission.

 

(6) Peel off the board. There is an angle from one end of the plate (generally less than 30°). The purpose is to make the label easy to label and separate from the backing paper when the backing paper changes direction through the peeling plate contact with the labeling object.

 

(7) Labeling roller. Apply the liner label evenly and evenly to the item to be attached.

 

6. Application of automatic labeling machine

 

(1) Applicable labels: self-adhesive labels, self-adhesive films, electronic supervision codes, barcodes, etc.;


(2) Applicable products: products that require labels or films to be attached to the circumferential surface, conical surface, and four sides;


(3) Application industry: widely used in food, toys, daily chemicals, electronics, medicine, hardware, plastics, and other sectors;


(4) Application examples: PET round bottle labeling, plastic bottle labeling, mineral water labeling, etc.

 

7. Warping solution

 

The perfect visual effect should be achieved in the labeling. One of them is to avoid warping in labeling. Label the tube before it is filled, and then perform filling and sealing after the labeling. The heating during the sealing process is particularly severe for the label. The closer the brand is to the bottom, the greater the possibility of warping the label. In practical applications, almost every manufacturer has similar problems, and there are various solutions:

 

(1) Increase the viscosity of the label and try to make the label stick firmly. To achieve this effect, the following aspects need to be considered:

 

① Improve the surface quality of the hose to be attached. Most of the products have varnish on the surface, which will increase the difficulty of labeling. The seepage of the contents, the micro-holes in the tube wall, etc., will cause the label to lift. How to avoid such problems should be considered by everyone. a rather important question.

 

② Control the labeling pressure of the brand during the labeling process.

 

③ Control the temperature during the labeling process. Increasing the labeling temperature will improve the labeling effect because as the temperature increases, the activity of the material inside the object will increase, and the label will be easier to integrate with the tube body.

 

(2) try to use soft label materials. Good label ductility will significantly improve the warping label.

 

(3) change the shape of the label.

 

Shape the bottom end of the label into an arc, avoiding the deformation area of ​​the end cap as much as possible. Of course, the hook should not be opened too deep. Otherwise, it will easily cause wrinkles due to the problem of the label itself, which will increase unnecessary trouble. For special-shaped end caps, the shape of the brand is required to be changed accordingly, which can not only avoid warping the label but also increase the aesthetics.

 

(4) Eliminate the influence of static electricity.

 

The labeling process is prone to generate static electricity, which will impact the labeling effect. Increasing the humidity at the labeling site will improve it to a certain extent. The use of an ion fan is also an effective solution. The inside of the labeling machine is equipped with automatic humidity control. The labeling machine is equipped with an automatic humidity control function, which can individually control the cleanliness of the equipment so that the labeling can be free from dust and improve the quality of product labeling. In this way, there is no more warping phenomenon during the labeling process, and the visual effect is achieved.

 

8. Automatic labeling machine fractionation

 

The plane labeling machine realizes labeling and filming on the upper plane and upper curved surface of the workpiece, such as boxes, books, plastic shells, etc. There are two methods of rolling and sucking, and the selection is mainly based on efficiency, accuracy, and bubble requirements. The round bottle labeling machine realizes labeling or filming on the circumferential surface of cylindrical and conical products, such as glass bottles, plastic bottles, etc. There are two ways of vertical labeling and horizontal labeling.

 

The side labeling machine realizes labeling or filming on the side plane and side arc surface of the workpiece, such as flat cosmetic bottles, square boxes, etc. It can be equipped with round bottle labeling equipment to realize round bottle labeling simultaneously.

 

9. The working principle of automatic labeling machine

 

The work process begins with feeding the labeling machine constantly on a conveyor belt. The mechanical fixing device separates the boxes by a fixed distance and pushes the boxes forward in the direction of the conveyor. The automated system of the labeling machine includes a drive wheel, a labeling wheel, and a reel. The drive wheel intermittently drags the label tape to move, the label tape is pulled out from the revolution, and at the same time passes the labeling wheel. The labeling wheel will press the label tape on the box. An open-loop displacement control is used on the reel to maintain the tension of the label tape. Because the labels are closely connected to the label tape, the label tape must be constantly started and stopped.

 

The label is applied to the case with the applicator wheel moving at the same speed as the case. When the conveyor belt reaches a particular position, the label belt drive wheel will accelerate to match the conveyor belt. After the label is attached, it will decelerate to a stop.

 

Since the label tape may slip, it has a registration mark to ensure that each label is placed correctly. A sensor is used to read the registration mark, and during the deceleration phase of the tag belt, the drive wheel is repositioned to correct any position errors on the tag belt.

 

10. The use of automatic labeling machine industry

 

There are more applications in the daily chemical products industry. This industry has relatively high product appearance and packaging requirements, so labels need to be more beautiful, neat, wrinkle-free, and bubble-free. Only in this way can the strength of a brand enterprise be demonstrated. These can only be done by high-end labeling machine equipment such as automatic labeling equipment.

11. Common failures and repair methods of automatic labeling machine

 

(1) Adjustment of the brush device

 

The center of the brush is aligned with the label and symmetrical on both sides. The marker brush is perpendicular to the container surface. The overlapping gap of the pressure brushes sweeping the container is as follows: a single pressure brush is 10mm to 15mm, and a combined pressure brush is 5mm to 10mm. The position of the cleaning brush from the sponge is 1mm to 2mm—adjustment of the bottle head. The bottle press head should be 20mm lower when there is no bottle than when there is a bottle.

 

(2) Adjustment of the label box

 

The centerline of the standard box, the center axis of the classic station, is tangent to the label paper; the three points of the center axis of the target plate are in a line. Adjust the tangent (0 distance) between the target plate and the label paper, and then move the standard box closer to 1mm ~ 2mm. The gap between the traditional paper in the ordinary box and the pressure bars on both sides should be 0.8mm-1mm. If the gap is too large, the standard paper will be displaced in the traditional box, and oblique marks will appear. If the hole is too small, the legal push will be difficult. Adjustment of the position of the grabbing hooks of the standard box: the upper and lower, left and right grabbing hooks are on the same vertical plane and work evenly on the traditional paper so that the mark can be grasped smoothly.

 

Adjustment of the label feeding roller: When there is no label, the label pressing plate can be pushed to the front end of the label box, and when the title is loaded, the tag near the label hook finger cannot be crushed.

 

(3) Adjustment of bottle-feeding star wheel, bottle feeding star wheel, and bottle feeding screw rod

 

When adjusting the bottle-in, bottle-out star wheel, and bottle-feeding screw rod, the bottle pressing head of the labeling machine shall prevail. First, adjust the bottle feeding star wheel. When the bottle pressing head presses the bottle, adjust the bottle feeding star wheel so that the bottle is located in the middle of the star wheel groove. Adjustment of the bottle feeding screw: Take the bottle feeding star wheel as the criterion. When the bottle is in the middle of the track of the bottle feeding star wheel, adjust the screw rod so that the bottle feeding side of the screw rod is close to the bottle without displacement. Adjustment of the bottle star wheel: When the bottle press head is just lifted, adjust the star wheel so that the bottle is in the middle of the groove of the star wheel.

 

(4) Benchmark adjustment

 

Adjustment of the squeegee and the rubber roller: There can be no gap between the squeegee and the rubber roller during the entire length. If there is a gap, the squeegee can be adjusted by adjusting the eccentric bolts. Adjustment of the rubber roller and the target plate: The rubber roller is only in contact without any pressure. The gap is too large, and the glue on the target plate is too much, resulting in glue rejection. If the hole is too small and the contact is too tight, the bond will be squeezed away, and there is no glue on the half of the target board.
